Gay house of the dragon
There are many, many spoilers for House of the Dragon below.
There are scant things I enjoy more than comics, movies, and television shows about legendary creatures, witches, warlocks and silver-haired nepo babies. And when there’s a dose of the alphabet collective mixed into it? Ultra nerdy and queer? State less! I’m locked in.
That’s what the most recent season of House of the Dragon gave us when Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, First of Her Designate, started riding more than just dragons. The third season won’t air until , so we’ll include to wait with anticipation for her official coming out party. But peruse below for my somewhat unhinged recaps of the hit HBO show’s queerest moments so far (along with some details from the book series). Note: there are many, many spoilers below.
The Sapphics Who Never Were: Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower
While the fandom spends a lot of time debating this, I’m not here to appeal to both sides. I’m here to grant you my opinion, also known as the facts. Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) is a repressed sapphic, and Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma
Alicent and Rhaenyra on House of the Dragon Are Into Each OtherRight?
Warning: Property of the Dragon spoilers to follow.
When we sat down to watch the highly-anticipated House of the Dragon premiere on HBO, we expected "the usual" for anything in the Game of Thrones universe: violence; political intrigue; men freaking out about their (lack of) male heirs—and we got that stuff. But we also got a very pleasant surprise: OVERWHELMING QUEER VIBES—specifically, from Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and her best friend Alicent Hightower, daughter of Hand of the King Otto Hightower.
While the first episode primarily established the feud between Rhaenyra and her uncle Daemon Targaryen—both of whom will (presumably) vie for the throne after King Viserys' festering wound does its thing—we couldn't stop focusing on the relationship between Rhaenyra and Alicent, which seemed low-key—nay, high-key—romantic, if you seek us. The way Rhaenyra lay on Alicent's lap in the Godswood and told her she'd appreciate to fly around the world with her on a dragon and "eat only cake"
Rhaenyra's bisexuality fundamentally changes 'House of the Dragon'
Warning: Major spoilers ahead for season two, episode six of "House of the Dragon."
"House of the Dragon" has finally done it.
I'm not talking about unleashing dragon war. That was weeks ago, and yeah, it's cool, but we knew that was going to happen; it's in the book, after all. I'm also not talking about bringing back Paddy Considine to perform King Viserys in this week's episode, though that was a delightful and welcome surprise.
No, I'm talking about one of the biggest character questions that "House of the Dragon" has ever raised — and as of season two, episode six has now answered definitively.
Rhaenyra Targaryen is bisexual. Rhaenyra Targaryen is bisexual!!!!!!!
Toward the end of this week's episode, Rhaenyra and Mysaria possess a heart-to-heart — one that, in the span of a few minutes, adds great depth to both of their characters. And at the terminate of it, after a heartfelt-turned-sensual hold , they kiss in an unscripted moment that fans contain been going feral over.
